The Computer lab, whether it be mobile or fixed, is an extension of your own classroom. The same rules you have for classroom management in your classroom also apply to the lab. On top of those rules there are special rules that apply to the computer labs and are designed to extend the life of the computers and keep the labs in working order.
These rules are posted in each lab and you should go over these rules with the students often.
No food, drink or gum in the labs.
Please sign in and sign out
All students must surrender their ID to use a computer. The ID will be returned when they are finished. No ID, no computer
No unauthroized use of the computers.

We do have administrative access to these computers. We KNOW what you are doing on thes computers at ALL times.
Anyone found in violation of these rules will be disciplined accordingly
Most of these rules are outlined in the AUP's.
The computer in the front of the room is for teacher use only. Because there administrative programs on that computer students are not allowed to access the computer Student IDs must be collected before any student can access a computer.
In the front of the fixed computer lab and on the inside doors of the mobile labs hang small sleeves each one corresponding to a particular computer in the lab. The students must place their ID into the sleeve matching the computer they will be using. Students must also sign in and out of the sign in books located in each lab and on top of the mobile carts. The signing must be in the student's own handwriting. Time should be made at the beginning and end of each period for this to be done.
When you are finished with with the lab please make sure it is clean, no loose papers, bookbags, pens or pencils or any other garbage, and that all chairs are pushed in and the computers are left in an orderly manner.
Each computer is outfitted with software to prevent student damage to the computer. We also have a program called Vision which monitors the computers and allows teachers and staff to watch what students are doing on the computer. We will cover that next.
Each computer is labeled by both our school and CPS. The students are not allowed to remove these labels.
Students are not allowed to plug anything into a computer. This includes MP3 Players, flash drives, headphones, digital cameras or any other digital device. It is very easy to transmit a virus through the network in this manner. Any student can save their work to the file storage in First Class. Students must login and with their Username and Password when using the comptuers See here to learn how to find that info.
